The Top Model of the World is an international modelling contest founded in 1993.
The current Top Model of the World is Natálie Kocendová from Czech Republic, crowned on March 11, 2022 at Tanoak Resort in Ain Sukhna, Egypt.
HISTORY
The event started in 1993 in Miami, organised by the Globana Group, whose the president is the brother of Tennis Pro, Goran Ivanisevic. For three consecutive years, it was a fixed place in the annual show-calendar of the sunshine state Florida / USA.
In 1996 the World Beauty Organization (WBO) in Panama with former President Guillermo Bobbio secured the rights to stage the Event and with partners it was produced for the first time outside of the USA in Germany.
It is now owned and managed by the World Beauty Organization.
Between 1996 and 2004, the pageant was held in Germany. In 2005, the contest was held for the first time on the Asian continent, in Humen, China, with more than 10,000 spectators, where a half-hour fireworks display was presented to celebrate this great event, where the Venezuelan model won. Dominika van Santen, who represented Venezuela.
For the 2006 edition, held in February 2007, the fourteenth anniversary of this contest was celebrated in the city of Kunming, China.
PAGEANT
The pageant is open to delegates, who should be at least 17 years old and not older than 31 (in the year they participate in the Finale).
They can be married and even have given birth to a child.
The Delegates chosen from the national pageants, participate in local and/or state pageants first. The national winners become delegates for the national pageant. The delegates must win their respective national pageants in their countries to compete in the annual Top Model of the World or beeing elected in a special casting to participate.
1- Natália Guimarães, winner of the 2006 edition, resigned her title as she represented Brazil in Miss Universe 2007. She was replaced by Michele de Leon (Philippines) and 1st runner-up.
1- Monica Palacios was resigned for unknown reasons. On the website of the organization, she was replaced by Isaiah Inara Anthonia from Guinea, the first runner-up.
