Miss ASEAN is a beauty contest for the Southeast Asian region which was first held in 1990 under the name Puteri ASEAN by the ASEAN Business and Advisory Council (ABIS).
Until now, the implementation of Miss ASEAN is still ongoing, but by various organizers, not by this contest organization since 2015.
The last Miss ASEAN is Melada Nantanurak of Thailand, crowned on December 30, 2014 at A-Star Phulare Valley, Chiang Rai, Thailand.
HISTORY
Miss ASEAN is a beauty contest for the Southeast Asian region which was first held in 1990 under the name Puteri ASEAN by the ASEAN Business and Advisory Council (ABIS).
The inaugural Miss ASEAN was held for the first time on December 17, 1990 at the Shangri-la Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At the end of the event, Marianne Anicoche from the Philippines was crowned as the first ever Miss ASEAN.
Miss ASEAN was held to select women who would become Economic, Political and Social Ambassadors for the Southeast Asia region. This contest was attended by all ASEAN member countries.
